Carrera parting crowds
Imagine driving at 100mph into a crowd that was constantly receding as you approached. Ray Crawford joked that he hoped his windshield wipers would work. John Fitch said he could only hope they would get out of the way...

1952 Nash Healey Mercury Ad Mexico Carrera Panamericana
It is always interesting to find memorabilia regarding the Carrera Panamericana. This advertisement was offered on Ebay (http://www.amazon.com/Nash-Healey-Mercury-Carrera-Panamericana/dp/B00QY43ORW) but seems to have sold.
I interviewed Stephen Ross in our documentary Carrera Panamericana (1950-54) who has the makeshift megaphone used in 1952 by Hans Klenk to communicate with Karl Kling after a vulture smashed the windshield of their Mercedes-Benz and nearly cost them the race.

When I began working on the Carrera documentary, I wanted a sponsor that was irrevocably linked to auto racing with an undeniable passion and commitment to the sport. I found such a sponsor in TAG Heuer...

John Fitch and the Carrerra Panamericana
John Fitch provided insight and friendship during the making of Carrera Panamericana (1950-54). It was John who suggested that the Mercedes team withdraw from the race after the horrific accident at Le Mans and his simple, yet profound, insights into racing that he shared in his extended interview were brilliant.
John was a gentleman.

Prancing Horse (#184) reviews Carrera Panamericana (1950-54)
The Prancing Horse (#184) features a review of our documentary Carrera Panamericana (1950-54). Written by Jeff Allison, the review is an appreciative look at the film and the cars and drivers of those extraordinary races. Viewed from the perspective of today's safety standards, it is difficult to believe these races were allowed to take place and that so many stepped up to the challenge they presented.
